Working Principle

 

Turn on the heating system and heat the mold to the set temperature. As the temperature increases, the adhesive softens and the material flows and compacts more easily. Pressure is then applied by means of a press, usually in the range of 10-20 MPa. Under pressure, the material is compacted and components such as reinforcing fibers and friction materials are tightly bound to each other to form the shape of the liner. During this process, the density of the material increases significantly, e.g. from an initial 1.5 - 2 g/cm³ to approx. 2.5 - 3 g/cm³.

After hot pressing, the heating system is switched off and the liner is allowed to cool and cure. After cooling to a certain temperature, the release mechanism removes the liner from the mold.

This precise molding is essential to ensure good contact between the brake lining and the braking component, which in turn ensures adequate and consistent friction during braking.

Barrel molds ensure consistent quality and performance of brake linings. Consistency in the quality of brake linings is very important for heavy-duty vehicle braking systems. Heavy-duty vehicles usually have high loads and complex driving conditions, which require high braking performance.

Through the standardized molding process, the physical properties such as density and hardness, as well as key parameters such as coefficient of friction of each brake lining can be maintained within a relatively stable range. For example, by precisely controlling the pressure and temperature parameters of the drum mold, it can ensure the uniform distribution of the material inside the brake lining and avoid excessive local density differences, so that the brake lining can provide reliable braking effect under different braking conditions.
